When building or remodeling a home, it is important to keep your energy needs in mind. The right insulation can be the difference between a high or low energy bill. There are several types of insulation on the market, but in my opinion it’s best to choose the product that will keep your bills down but also will help the environment.
If you have enough space in your wall, choose Blown in Cellulose. This insulation is made from recycled newspapers and other print material. You’ll be helping the planet by keeping this newspaper out of a landfill and you’ll be helping yourself by keeping you energy bills low.
In a small space, such as around a window or door, choose Soybean based foam. You will want to make sure you choose the low expanding material. This material is highly renewable and will do a fine job of keeping your windows and doors draft-free.
